Having Fun

I’m in the middle of the most rigorous photography class I’ve ever taken. I’ve spent hours in darkrooms and computer labs and frequently walk home smelling like developer. Photography has been the most challenging it’s been in a while, but somehow, it’s also been the most fun.

I’ve started bringing my camera everywhere I go. No more pining after fleeting compositions that could have been photos; now I’m actually getting them.

I’ve also been making my own compositions lately, even though I’ve always been allowed to do this. I borrowed some flashlights from the photo lab for an idea I had and my roommate and I ended up getting pretty creative with them.

Things I glance at every day are now getting second looks. These photos have always been there, but I’m only just starting to find them.

My friends have kindly served as models, like my roommate Kyle.

And my friend Roderick.

I even took my camera to a party once! (Models have anonymity.

I’ve been shooting a lot of film lately because of my aforementioned class, which means I often have leftover exposures to play around with.

In camera double exposure!!

I’ve been enjoying life lately. It follows that I would enjoy photography more as well. The experience has been reminding me of when I first started taking pictures, but now I’m more capable and more creative. It’s refreshing being good at something I enjoy!
