Scenes from Northwest Washington last night after a water main burst under Ward Circle, sending sewage streaming down Massachusetts Avenue by the Department of Homeland Security’s headquarters. Metropolitan Police Department closed the road, redirecting traffic down Nebraska Avenue. Freezing temperatures have caused a slew of similar breaks across the area since Winter Storm Fern blanketed the Northeast with snow last week.
