The 2024-25 school year at American University was marked with frequent and visible demonstrations against Israel-Hamas War and the university’s role in what protestors (and the international humanitarian community) described as a genocide. Many of these protests were officially organized independently of university groups while the AU Students for Justice in Palestine chapter navigated an indefinite suspension.
